All This and War preorder is available now!

In three short stories, All This and War captures the violence, absurdity, and heartbreak of one Marine's path from a recruit in boot camp to a hardened veteran in Iraq.

"Matt Eidson's All This and War is a sharp, darkly funny, and honest look at the mess that is being a Marine. Eidson skips the Hollywood heroics and dives into the absurdity, camaraderie, and quiet heartbreak of war--where laughter is survival, misery creates community, and small moments linger longest. Gritty, human, and unexpectedly moving, these are the war stories most people don’t hear, and the ones that need to be told.”

Matt Young, Marine Veteran and author of Eat the Apple and End of Active Service

About the author

Matt Eidson grew up in Adrian, Missouri—a small town about an hour south of Kansas City. After high school, he joined the Marine Corps and served for nearly eight years, completing tours to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Along with his stint in the military, Matt has amassed a collection of odd jobs over the years. He was a journalist for both the local newspaper and the NPR affiliate in Grand Forks, North Dakota; an elected Representative in North Dakota; and, for a short and embarrassing time, an influencer on TikTok, whose videos shared details of his year living in a van.

His work has been published in "Bull Literary Magazine," "Collateral," and "The Wrath-Bearing Tree." He lives in Pittsburgh with his wife and son.
